No, Really. We Mean It.
We're so committed to locally sourcing ingredients we've harvested our own wild yeast from right here in Saxapahaw. And then, we brewed beer with it. That's right: it's yeast from our very own backyard.
Our beer is rooted in Belgian history because it's a centuries-long basis for great beer that doesn't follow too many parameters or distinct styles. So, we're continuing the tradition—by being a bit non-traditional. From field to glass, our founders, Ben & Dawnya Woodward, use country ingenuity to cook up new ways of brewing. Just like Belgian farmers have done for generations.
We brew with ingredients that might just scare some folks—pine needles, balsamic vinegar, and fresh roasted sunchokes, to name a few. Much of it grown and harvested from farms and gardens within a hundred miles of our brewery, right here in North Carolina, as part of our Farmhand Exchange program.
Our beers are meant to be shared, just like our community shares with us. They bring us ideas, ingredients and tips on brewing up the good stuff. Most importantly, they bring good times to our experience. Each new beer is taste tested around a table of our friends and neighbors. We share a meal, lots of laughs and test some brews—some beers make it, others don't. And, that's ok. 'Cause when it's about the journey, the end result is always a little hoppier.
